Injection Molding The basic approach to product engineering for plastic injection molding in China needs to be radically different to that for plastic molding in the West. In the West a manufacturing engineer will optimize the plastic part design for quick, low labor intense assembly, by designing click systems for example. This leads to a relatively high investment in tooling due to the tight tolerances and many sliders required. Another factor is that in the West often only one worker is available to supervise 4 injection machines, which means that the molded parts need to be absolutely flawless. To truly benefit from China's low labor cost the plastic parts need to
be designed for China injection molding. In China it is normal to have
3/4 people sitting next to each plastic injection machine, taking out
parts by hand and cutting off flares where necessary. We have had quite
a few instances where the quality of our plastic parts made in China were
actually better then the same ones from the US, because we could afford
the labor to put a wood jig in every part to prevent warping. Secondary
processes such as water-cooling, and spray painting are all much more
affordable. High precision molding in Taiwan Plastic Injection Ability |
